Job summary

RI International is seeking a Peer Support Specialist I to provide support and recovery training to individuals in services. The role helps implement a recovery environment and advocates for the rights and needs of every individual.

The position requires completion of Peer Employment Training and a high school diploma. It is onsite in Newark, with night shifts and a schedule of Thursdays and weekends. Benefits include health insurance and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Peer Employment Training certifying as a Peer Support Specialist.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
• Basic computer skills are needed to perform daily tasks.
• Ability to teach recovery information and recovery tools.
• Effective communication skills required.
• Must pass de‑escalation training per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership.
• Teach recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
• Model hope and self-advocacy to support recovery goals.
• Develop natural supports and community living for participants.
• Coordinate with clinical teams to arrange services and resources.
