Job summary

El Puente is seeking an energetic, compassionate Cornerstone Group Leader for its Brooklyn after-school program. The role supports youth in grades K–8 with academic, social-emotional, and leadership development, guiding a consistent cohort and fostering a joyful, structured environment.

The position is part-time, typically 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday with summer hours. Compensation is $20 per hour; opportunities exist to transition to full-time during summer and grow with a mission-driven

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to complete background checks and fingerprinting per agency requirements.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships with a consistent cohort of youth in grades K–8.
• Support participants’ academic, social-emotional, and leadership development.
• Design and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and enrichment activities.
• Provide homework assistance and encourage academic confidence.
• Lead recreational activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and fun.
• Foster a structured and positive group environment rooted in respect and belonging.
• Safely escort participants from local schools to the program site.
• Manage snack distribution, activity transitions, and dismissal procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative planning sessions.
• Contribute ideas and reflections to strengthen program quality and impact.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive team environment.
