Job summary

El Puente in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Cornerstone Group Leader to mentor K–8 youth after school and in summer programs. You will foster safe, structured spaces, support academics and social-emotional growth, and help youth develop leadership skills within a joyful, community-centered environment.

Reporting to the Program Director, you will design engaging activities, supervise daily routines, escort participants from schools, manage transitions, and work with a dedicated team to advance El Puente’s

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Background checks and fingerprinting in accordance with agency requirements.
Passion for youth development and social justice.

Responsibilities

Build meaningful relationships with a consistent cohort of youth in grades K–8.
Design and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and enrichment activities.
Provide homework assistance and encourage academic confidence.
Lead recreational activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and fun.
Foster a structured and positive group environment rooted in respect and belonging.
Safely escort participants from local schools to the program site.
Manage snack distribution, activity transitions, and dismissal procedures.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative planning sessions.
