Job summary

Brewster Elementary School within Regional School District 13 is seeking a Support Staff/Teacher Assistant. The position offers a starting wage of $21.28 per hour for a 10-month, 32.5-hour work week with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, 403b and pension.

Under the supervision of certified staff, the aide maintains records, assists with instruction, and supports student learning across various settings. Immediate availability is required.

Qualifications

• 60 College Credits/Associates Degree/Successful completion of paraprofessional assessment
• Basic clerical skills (i.e. typing, filing, copying)
• First Aid/CPR training and certification preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education finds appropriate and acceptable for the position

Responsibilities

• Maintains records and performs clerical work at the direction of certified staff member.
• Works with individuals, small groups, or classes of students to pre-teach or reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the certified teacher.
• Guides independent student work, small group instruction , or intervention service that is supervised by the teacher or administrator.
• Works at the request of supervisor and/or teacher with individual students with individualized learning goals .
• Assists and supervises students in a variety of school settings and locations as assigned
• Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom and/or office.
• Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and strict confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
• Participates in inservice training programs, as needed or assigned.
• Responsibilities may include toileting, assisting with feeding and lifting in addition to physical management training.
• Performs such other instructional or clerical tasks as the administration may from time to time assign within the realm of the position.
• Supports and promotes the District's Core Ethical Values with students, colleagues and parents.
• Strives to implement the District's mission, goals and objectives outlined in the District's Strategic Plan.
