Qualifications

• PEL with LBS I endorsement valid in Illinois.
• Recent special education teaching experience; new graduates may qualify.
• Knowledge of current teaching techniques for students with disabilities.
• Ability to write and implement IEPs.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative MTSS prereferral intervention guidance to staff.
• Attend team meetings and planning times to offer consultation.
• Screen and evaluate students using appropriate instruments and write reports.
• Re-evaluate students with disabilities as recommended by the IEP team.
• Submit records, reports and assignments promptly.
• Participate as an IEP team member to develop and implement IEPs.
• Manage a caseload of students with disabilities.
• Provide individualized instruction to students with disabilities.
• Consult with classroom teachers and other providers of caseload students.
• Maintain data on students to document current levels of performance.
• Monitor student progress regularly.
• Consult with parents and teachers about performance in classroom or home.
• Participate in professional development.
• Support and implement District policies and procedures.
• Adhere to ethical standards and laws governing special education.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
