Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a special education classroom teacher to work under the direction of the principal and program staff. You will create an effective learning environment, set objectives, and adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

You will plan instructional programs, develop individual lesson plans, and monitor progress. Collaboration with families and staff is essential to support achievement and compliance with IEPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and preparation for teaching a diverse urban student population.
• Experience teaching special education and implementing IEPs.
• Ability to adapt instruction for students with varying needs.

Responsibilities

• Foster an educational environment conducive to the learning and maturation of students with disabilities.
• Plan instructional programs and prepare individual student lesson plans.
• Instruct, counsel, discipline, and supervise students as needed.
• Evaluate student performance and progress; prepare reports.
• Collaborate with families, specialists, and staff to support achievement.
• Develop and monitor IEP goals and progress.
