Job summary

Delta Center Elementary is seeking a dedicated Special Education ParaEducator to support students with diverse learning needs in a full-time role. You will work closely with teachers to provide individualized assistance and promote inclusive learning environments.

The position emphasizes collaboration with therapists and counselors, maintaining student privacy, and assisting with daily activities to foster safe, positive classroom experiences.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) required; further education preferred.
• Experience with children, especially with diverse needs, is desirable.
• Strong communication with students, families, and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow teacher directions.
• Patience, empathy, and passion for supporting student development.
• Basic computer skills and comfort with educational tech.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Background check clearance as required by school district policy.
• Commitment to confidentiality and student privacy.
• Willingness to participate in training and staff meetings.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in implementing IEPs for students with special needs.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support for academic and social skills.
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement for teachers.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers and parents to support learning.
• Support daily activities (transitions, lunch, recess) to ensure safety and inclusion.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt resources to meet diverse needs.
• Implement behavioral intervention strategies as directed by staff.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
• Collaborate with speech therapists, OT, and school counselors.
• Maintain confidentiality in line with school policies.
