Job summary

Somerton School District No. 11 is seeking an ESS Instructional Assistant to support instructional programs and supervise students as part of a diverse educational team.

The role focuses on assisting in implementing plans, monitoring behavior, and aiding in special education services within regular or self-contained classrooms. Starting August 2026, this 181-day calendar position offers $15.15–$16.60 per hour, with no benefits package, and eligibility for ASRS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Associate degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college preferred.
• One year classroom assistance experience preferred.
• IVP Fingerprint Card required at hiring.
• Proof of MMR Immunization & Hepatitis B Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities under supervision to support objectives.
• Administers tests, homework, make-up work to support teachers.
• Provides first aid and medical assistance as instructed by health staff.
• Attends meetings and in-service trainings for information sharing.
• Documents student daily activities for logs and hourly records.
• Monitors student behavior and safety in various settings.
• Assists with instructional plans and IEP implementation under supervision.
