Job summary

Spracale Elementary in Tempe, AZ seeks an Instructional Assistant Senior – Special Needs, Personal to support IEP goals, personal care, and behavior management under teacher supervision. You will assist classrooms, monitor student progress, and help with inclusion and material preparation.

Starting immediately, 189-day calendar, $15.50 per hour, with required safety training and potential certifications; Spanish language ability preferred.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
• AA degree, or 60 credit hours, or ParaPro assessment as an option
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Three years experience with special needs students (preferred)
• Able to obtain CPR, First Aid, CPI certifications
• May require training in adaptive equipment
• Spanish language ability preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructions, materials, and setup
• Help meet I.E.P. goals and include students in regular classrooms
• Aid students with personal hygiene and use of eating utensils
• Assist therapy staff and monitor student behavior as needed
• Provide safe environment for special education students
• Work with students one-on-one or in small groups
• Prepare instructional materials and learning centers
• Monitor and supervise students in classroom, playground, and cafeteria
• Assist in administering district/state tests
• Document student progress and adapt lessons as needed
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure appropriate lessons
• Organize teaching materials and file student work
• Attend training and perform other duties as assigned
