Job summary

Centennial SD 28J seeks a Special Education Educational Assistant at Powell Butte Elementary School in Portland, OR. The role is 6 hours per day (8:35am-3:05pm), .75 FTE, 193-day calendar, starting Oct 5, 2026 or when filled. Salary range $21.29-$29.47 per hour with PERS, medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.

Prior training and IEP experience preferred. Responsibilities include supporting a certificated teacher in instructional and behavioral programming, one-on-one and small-group work,

Qualifications

• Two years of college completed or a two-year degree or No Child Left Behind certification.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance required.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training or willingness to complete.
• Ability to speak a second language preferred.
• Experience with students with special needs including autism spectrum disorder.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences for students in a program.
• Confer with teacher(s) to provide feedback on student performance in tutoring and testing activities.
• Interpret IEPs and related instructional plans within guidelines set by certificated teacher.
• Instruct students in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Revise lesson plans or strategies to meet IEP goals.
• Help students develop positive relationships with peers and adults.
• Promote student safety and behavior management as required.
