Job summary

Onward Education is partnering with a Maricopa County school district to hire Middle School Special Education Resource Room Teachers to support students who benefit from targeted, specialized instruction while remaining in the general education setting.

The Resource Room Teacher provides small-group and individualized instruction to middle school students who need additional support in specific academic or social-emotional areas, and collaborates with general education teachers to help students

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified in Special Education.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Ability to provide both individual and small-group instruction.
• Familiar with IEPs, accommodations, and specialized instruction.
• Collaborative and communicative with school teams.
• Patient, compassionate, and student-centered.
• Committed to helping students build academic skills and independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction in a resource room/pull-out setting.
• Work with students individually or in small groups based on their specific needs.
• Provide targeted instruction in areas such as reading, writing, math, executive functioning, and social skills.
• Reinforce and build skills that students may be struggling with in the general education classroom.
• Develop and implement instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction and interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and school staff.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and services.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress-monitoring data.
• Support students in becoming more independent and successful within the general education environment.
