Job summary

Worcester Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Tutor Systemwide for a part-time role. The tutor will provide instructional support to elementary students in Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies, primarily through small-group instruction, under the direction of the Supervisors of Teaching and Learning.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, with priority for certified teachers; non-certified candidates with relevant experience may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Priority will be given to certified teachers.
• In the event a certified teacher is not available who possesses the required skills, consideration will be given to non-certified individuals who have demonstrated experience in the areas needed.

Responsibilities

• Instruct small groups of students in Language Arts (reading & writing), Science, Math and Social Studies in alignment with approved curriculum.
• Reinforce classroom lessons and support student learning.
• Use diverse instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Communicate with classroom teachers regularly and provide progress reports.
