Job summary

Dallas Independent School District seeks an Early Childhood SPED Self-Contained Teacher to collaborate with families and staff in developing IEPs through ARD. You will implement targeted instructional and therapeutic programs, adapt curricula for diverse learners, and participate in ARD meetings to explain educational plans to the community.

The role requires knowledge of IEP goals, curriculum, and appropriate assessments, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing IEP goals and ARD processes.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction for SPED settings.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and procedures for SPED.
• Ability to prepare clear IEP-related documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs via ARD.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill programs with evidence.
• Plan and use strategies and materials tailored to student needs.
• Modify curricula with classroom teachers when needed.
• Attend ARD meetings and help communicate programs to families.
• Consult with teachers on behavior management per IEP guidelines.
• Assess student achievement with formal and informal methods.
• Maintain records and required documentation of student progress.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
• Manage student behavior and assist in crises according to IEP.
• Stay informed on regulations and district policies for special education.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance at the worksite.
