The HBMPAA Assistant Teacher position in San Diego supports daily classroom operations under supervision to maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment. Responsibilities include guiding activities, supervising children, and ensuring health and safety requirements are met.

Ideal candidates have six semester units in ECE or Child Development, eligibility for an Assistant Teacher permit, and CPR/First Aid plus Mandated Reporter training. Compliance and teamwork are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a minimum of six (6) semester units/credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development.
• Eligible to obtain the Assistant Teacher-level Child Development Permit.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter training.
• Meet background clearance, health screening, immunization and other requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developmentally appropriate classroom activities, centers, small groups, and routines.
• Prepare instructional materials, classroom supplies, and activity areas.
• Support implementation of lesson plans and classroom schedules.
• Encourage children’s participation, exploration, communication, creativity, and development.
