Job summary

Orange County Head Start in Buena Park, CA is hiring a Teacher Assistant EHS to support early childhood educators and promote bonding between caregivers and children. You will help plan and conduct learning experiences for infants and toddlers, document progress, communicate with families, and assist with daily routines, safety, and screenings as part of a collaborative teaching team.

Qualifications

• Education: CDA or 12 ECE units including core courses and 3 Infant/Toddler units.
• Experience: Some related experience.
• Knowledge: Early childhood development and Head Start standards.
• Language Skills: English fluency; Spanish and/or Vietnamese may be required given community needs.
• Math Skills: Basic math.
• Other Requirements: Valid CA driver license and proof of insurance; background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Assist EHS Teachers to ensure continuity of care and bonding between caregivers and children.
• Plan and implement learning experiences for infants and toddlers to support readiness for preschool.
• Document child progress via observations, samples, and parental input in required assessments.
• Communicate with parents during home visits and conferences to set goals and update progress.
• Prepare daily attendance, meal counts, safety drills, and related classroom paperwork.
• Support classroom safety, routines, and supervision; assist with diapering and self-care.
