Job summary

The Arc of the Quad Cities Area is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Rock Island, IL to provide supervised care and support to designated individuals. You will deliver personal care, monitor safety, and assist with daily activities as outlined in individual service plans.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Driving: Valid driver’s license in good standing and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance required.
• Strength: Lift minimum of 50 lbs and assist in lifting individuals heavier than 100 lbs.
• Flexibility: Kneel, bend, and position for patient care.
• Standing: Stand 90% of shift.
• Sitting: Sit as needed for documentation.
• Experience: Direct service in human services preferred.
• Technology: Basic MS applications; willingness to learn documentation tools.
• Communication: Clear verbal and written communication.
• Certifications: Direct Service Provider certification preferred or obtainable within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Actively support and further the Mission of The Arc.
• Provide supervision and personal care training including medication administration when needed.
• Prepare and provide progress reports and input for staffing and plans.
• Maintain documentation per agency and regulatory standards.
• Keep a safe, clean work environment and proper PPE usage.
• Maintain agency property and request supplies as needed.
• Promote self-advocacy and informed choice for individuals.
• Participate in staff training and support onboarding of new staff.
• Drive agency or personal vehicle for outings and duties as required.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, guardians, and staff; represent the agency positively.
