Job summary

Arkansas Center for Independence is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living independently, with dignity and community inclusion.

Responsibilities include daily living support, medication routines, mobility assistance, transportation, and documenting services while maintaining a safe home environment.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient, and dependable individuals who enjoy helping others.
• High school diploma or GED (experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus).
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid Arkansas driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals with mobility and personal care.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

What You'll Do

• Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and laundry.
• Support medication routines and follow individualized care plans.
• Encourage independence by teaching life skills and promoting personal growth.
• Plan and participate in recreational, social, educational, and community activities.
• Provide safe transportation to appointments, community outings, and other activities.
• Monitor individuals' well-being, document services, and communicate with supervisors and families as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure the health and safety of those in your care.
