Job summary

Arkansas Center for Independence is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to assist adults with developmental disabilities in living as independently as possible.

You will help with daily living activities, promote dignity, and support participation in community activities, with paid training and a supportive team.

Applicants must be 21+ years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, have a valid Arkansas driver’s license, and be able to assist with mobility and personal care.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient and dependable individuals who enjoy helping others.
• High school diploma or GED required; experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• At least 21 years of age and valid Arkansas driver's license with a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal care, meals, housekeeping and laundry.
• Support medication routines and follow individualized care plans.
• Encourage independence by teaching life skills and promoting personal growth.
• Plan and participate in recreational, social, educational, and community activities.
• Provide safe transportation to appointments, community outings, and other activities.
• Monitor individuals' wellbeing, document services, and communicate with supervisors and families as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure health and safety of those in care.

What We're Looking For
