Job summary

Arkansas Center for Independence is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live independently with dignity, choice, and community inclusion. Responsibilities include daily living activities, medication support, teaching life skills, and coordinating transportation and activities.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and dependable; enjoys helping others.
• High school diploma or GED, experience with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid Arkansas driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist with mobility and personal care.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and laundry.
• Support medication routines and follow individualized care plans.
• Encourage independence by teaching life skills and promoting personal growth.
• Plan and participate in recreational, social, educational, and community activities.
• Provide safe transportation to appointments, community outings, and other activities.
• Monitor individuals' well-being, document services, and communicate with supervisors and families as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure health and safety of those in care.
