Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Wilmington, NC seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with IDD complete daily living tasks in home and community settings. You’ll provide care, transportation support, and assist with daily routines.

Qualifications

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
• Education: high school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must.
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn.
• Transportation: must have reliable transportation, driver's license, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and community setting.
• Assist with housekeeping, meals, bathing, dressing, toiletry, and daily living tasks.
• Transport client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the client’s schedule.
• Document daily care and reporting in the electronic health record.
