Job summary

Humanim is seeking a Direct Support Professional in La Plata, MD to assist individuals with disabilities in learning and gaining independence. You will support daily activities, transport to appointments, and implement safety measures in a compassionate setting.

The role reports to the Program Manager and emphasizes promoting health, safety, and well-being while advocating for the needs and goals of the individuals served.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• MD driver’s license with fewer than 5 points and valid auto insurance required.
• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• CPR/First Aid Training Required.
• Ability to relate well to staff, individuals, board members, and all relevant stakeholders of different races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, socioeconomic background, and religions required.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with disabilities to learn, grow and become more independent.
• Support individuals with developmental disabilities to have a quality of life and promote health, safety, and well-being.
• Advocate in communicating individuals’ needs and goals.
• Help individuals complete basic housekeeping tasks.
• Transport individuals to appointments or social outings.
• Help individuals implement safety precautions learned in their environments.
