Job summary

Soliant is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students within a welcoming school community. In this contract role you will tailor instruction to meet each learner’s needs, fostering access, confidence, and communication for pupils with hearing challenges.

You will collaborate with families and school teams to create inclusive learning experiences, advocate for students, and apply assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
• Experience providing direct instruction and educational support to students with hearing loss.
• Knowledge of assistive technology and learning accommodations.
• Proficiency in ASL, Signed English, or other communication modalities.
• Strong collaboration and communication with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Passion for empowering students to reach their fullest potential academically and socially.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs with students, families, and staff.
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support access and comprehension for deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Provide direct instruction in one-on-one and small group settings, with sensitivity to each student’s preferred communication style.
• Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote inclusion and provide training on effective practices and technologies.
• Advocate for the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students within the school environment.
