Job summary

Soliant Health is seeking a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students near Cheshire, CT in a contract role. You will work with educators and families to promote accessibility and develop communication skills for learners who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The position emphasizes individualized education plans, curriculum adaptation for inclusion, and collaboration with general education staff. A valid license in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education and ASL proficiency are highly desirable,

Qualifications

• Valid license or certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education.
• Proven experience in Deaf/Hard of Hearing teaching, preferably in schools.
• ASL proficiency and/or other communication modes for students.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in deaf education and accommodations.
• Compassionate, patient approach to diverse student needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative instruction to deaf/hard-of-hearing students.
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s goals.
• Adapt curriculum and activities to maximize accessibility and inclusion.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers.
• Guide staff and families on deaf education and advocacy.
• Maintain records and monitor progress with data-driven adjustments.
