Job summary

Dallas Independent School District seeks a Special Education/Deaf Education Teacher for the 191-day academic year. You will develop lesson plans with accommodations, collaborate on IEPs, monitor progress, and document outcomes.

You will implement district curriculum, manage classrooms, communicate with families, and provide tutoring before/after school as needed. Sign language proficiency and ongoing professional growth are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and Deaf Education Certification
• Teaching experience preferred
• Familiarity with IEP goal setting and progress monitoring
• Knowledge of district curriculum and instruction in special education
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated sign language ability for instructional purposes

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect accommodations for different learning styles.
• Collaborate with parents and district staff to develop an IEP.
• Document progress toward IEP goals using district protocols.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and district policies.
• Maintain classroom management and student behavior standards.
• Evaluate and report student progress to parents as required.
• Provide varied learning experiences using diverse media and methods.
• Tutoring students before and after school as needed.
• Teach within the prescribed course of study and duties as assigned.
