Job summary

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned students in the designated location and times.
• Demonstrates professional conduct as a model for students.
• Maintains high expectations and helps students set achievement goals.
• Prepares planned lessons and shows written evidence upon request.
• Handles routine classroom duties in an organized, time-on-task manner.
• Maintains an attractive classroom conducive to effective teaching and learning.
• Uses varied instructional techniques and paces instruction to cover essential content.
• Works in alignment with Selma City Schools' philosophy.
• Monitors and evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment methods.
• Responds to information requests from administration for instructional improvement.
• Collaborates with colleagues to promote productive school climate.
• Maintains accurate student records on attendance and progress.
• Implements effective discipline and supports school rules.
• Supervises students responsibly in classrooms and other areas as assigned.
• Administers tests required by the district and state board.
• Attends in-service workshops and meetings to support school-family relations.
• Confer with administration, parents, and students regarding progress.
• Demonstrates allegiance to the school system and supports policies.
• Follows professional development plans to maintain teaching competence.
• Performs other duties as required.
