Job summary

SMITH ES in Spring, Texas is seeking an Aide for Structured Behavior Support (SBS) to assist the SBS Teacher in meeting behavioral and academic needs of students with disabilities.

Starting immediately, the role requires data collection, materials prep, and supporting students with physical and behavioral needs throughout a 187-day school year. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Required: 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited college or university.
• Required: Pass Spring Independent School District's NCLB test in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
• Required: Must obtain Educational Aide Certification.
• Preferred: One or more years experience working with children.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in collecting instructional and behavioral data.
• Assist teacher in preparation of instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist teacher in preparing/maintaining records/reports required by Federal, State or local laws/regulations.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting or positioning.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
• Assist in the implementation of behavior plans.
• Assist teacher with data collection and documenting student progress.
• Assist teacher with intervening during crisis situations requiring restraint.
• Assist with small group work to support social/behavior skills.
• Supervise students throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom.
