Job summary

Midland Independent School District is seeking a Teacher Assistant, Life Skills at Lone Star Trails Elementary in Midland, Texas. This is a non-exempt, full-time position in the Teaching and Learning department, starting immediately.

The assistant helps the classroom teacher with care and instruction, prepares materials, supports student supervision, and assists with self-care tasks as needed. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Educational Aide Certificate from Texas, and TEA

Qualifications

• Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate
• Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent; {or higher} is required
• Three creditable years of experience as an educational aide I or II, or 30 semester credit hours with focus on child growth and development
• Experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent

Responsibilities

• Follow the directions of the supervisor
• Prepare materials and displays as directed
• Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal skills
• Work cooperatively with teacher and students
• Assist the teacher in maintaining student discipline
• Assist with care and safety of students
• Assist with care of equipment and teaching materials
