Job summary

Downingtown Area School District seeks a certified Elementary Special Education teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Brandywine Wallace Elementary. This is a permanent, full-time contracted position.

The Learning Support teacher provides specialized instruction to students with diverse needs, collaborates with staff, develops IEPs, and delivers interventions in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning while adhering to district policies.

Qualifications

• Certification in PA elementary special education.
• Must meet PA background check requirements.
• Positive attitude toward teaching, district service and education program.
• Proficiency in use of technology for demonstrations or communication.
• Must flex and vary hours to meet student/parent/teacher needs.
• Interpersonal skills to interface with teachers, admins, parents, students, and partners.
• Exhibits excellent classroom management skills.
• Effective communication to provide/obtain directions.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and support to special education students per IEP.
• Develop lesson plans addressing individual needs.
• Collaborate with regular ed teachers, pupil services, and related services staff.
• Coordinate caseload services; prepare essential documents (IEP, NOREP, evaluations).
• Collect data and monitor progress for students on caseload.
• Document ESY data and report to Supervisor of Special Education.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary team and IEP meetings.
• Provide staff development on disability-related needs and strategies.
• Prepare Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans.
