Job summary

Joseph Michaels International, a leading AmLaw 50 firm, seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Employment & Trade Secrets Litigation Practice Group in New York. This team handles a broad mix of high-stakes litigation, internal investigations, and employment issues arising from major corporate transactions.

Candidate must have a JD from a top-tier law school, active New York Bar in good standing, and about 2 years of substantive management-side employment litigation and counseling experience.

Qualifications

• Active New York Bar Admission in good standing.
• 2 years of substantive experience in management-side employment law litigation and counseling.
• Experience handling disputes involving non-compete agreements, trade secrets, and employee solicitation matters.
• Advising on terminations, leaves of absence, internal investigations, reductions in force, and employment policies.
• Advising on employment issues in mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactions.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to in-person collaboration in the New York office.

Responsibilities

• Represent employers in complex employment disputes, including trade secret, non-compete, and employment mobility matters.
• Advise technology and life sciences clients on terminations, leaves of absence, reductions in force, policy review and creation.
• Provide day-to-day counseling to fast-growing companies on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Manage all aspects of litigation from start to finish, collaborating with attorneys across practices to deliver comprehensive client support.
• Advise clients on employment aspects of corporate transactions and restructuring, including M&A.
• Conduct internal investigations and provide guidance on related risk management strategies.
