Easterseals Maine seeks an Employment Specialist (Veteran Outreach) to support veterans through job placement, outreach, and coordination with workforce partners. The role requires travel across Maine, case management, and collaboration with veterans programs and service agencies.

The ideal candidate has two years of experience in workforce development or veteran services, plus a valid driver’s license and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in workforce development or veteran services.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel statewide.
• Experience with Maine CareerCenters/JVSG, VA/VJO, SSVF, housing programs, or employer development.
• Experience using case-management and workforce reporting systems.
• Training in military cultural competency, crisis response, suicide prevention, or Mental Health First Aid.

Title: Employment Specialist (Veteran Outreach)

Location: 14 Gabriel Drive, Augusta, ME 04330 (frequent travel required)

Reports to: Program Director

Compensation: $22-$24 Per Hour

Key Responsibilities

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Associate or bachelor's degree in human services, workforce development, criminal justice, social services, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in workforce development, veteran services, corrections/reentry, case management, employment services, peer support, community outreach, or a related field (required).
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel statewide, including correctional facilities (required).
• Veteran of the United States Armed Forces or National Guard.
• Experience working with justice-involved veterans or people returning from correctional settings.
• Experience with Maine CareerCenters/JVSG, VA/VJO, SSVF, housing programs, apprenticeship, or employer development.
• Experience using case-management and workforce reporting systems.
• Training in military cultural competency, crisis response, suicide prevention, or Mental Health First Aid.
• Facility-Based Outreach, Recruitment, and Engagement.
• Intake, Eligibility Verification, and Comprehensive Assessment.
• Individualized Employment Planning and Pre-Release Readiness.
• Post-Release Reentry, Stabilization, and Supportive Services.
• Training, Employer Engagement, and Employment Placement.
• Employment Retention and Follow-Up.
• Documentation, Data Quality, and Team Accountability.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work independently in carceral institutional and community settings.
• Veteran and military culture; reentry and employment barriers; career coaching; job development and employer engagement; supportive-service coordination; documentation and case management; motivational engagement; public speaking/group facilitation.
• Technology use skills including Microsoft Office Suite, case-management systems, desktop, laptop, mobile devices.
• Regular travel to correctional facilities, Veterans Forward service sites, CareerCenters, partner agencies, employer locations, hiring events, and participant appointments statewide.
• Ability to comply with correctional-facility security, access, dress, conduct, and scheduling requirements.
• Strong ability to engage participants facing multiple barriers and maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and accurate documentation (required).
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
