Employment Specialist

MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Employment Specialist to join our DYS - Juvenile Employment team. Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree and experience in social services and/or sales preferred.
  • Ability to work well with people and develop relationships with area employers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and current insurance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review referral information, establish professional relationships, conduct intake interviews, and develop individual employment plans.
  • Maintain communication with referral sources and provide updates on participant activities.
  • Use community resources and local job market information to develop employer contacts and secure employment opportunities.
  • Complete agency paperwork promptly, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist participants in developing job seeking skills, including interview preparation, application processes, resume writing, and job retention.
  • Make employer contacts in the community through cold calls and visits, educating about MERS Goodwill programs and services.
  • Provide retention services post-placement through employer and participant follow-up.
  • Achieve and maintain a minimum of 75% 90-day retention rate and 75% placement rate.
  • Average at least 3 placements per month.
  • Other duties as assigned.
