MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Employment Specialist to join our DYS - Juvenile Employment team.   • A High School Diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree and experience in social services and/or sales are preferred.
  • Ability to work well with people and develop/maintain relationships with area employers is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • A valid driver’s license and current insurance are necessary.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review referral information, establish professional and ethical relationships, perform timely intake interviews, and develop/maintain individual employment plans with participants.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with referral sources and communicate ongoing updates regarding participant activities.
  • Utilize intake data, local job market information, and community resources to develop employer contacts and secure employment opportunities.
  • Complete all agency paperwork promptly and maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Assist participants in developing job seeking skills, including interviewing, application completion, resume writing, and job retention.
  • Engage in community outreach by making employer contacts, educating about MERS Goodwill programs, and following up to secure employment.
  • Provide retention services post-placement through contacts with employers and participants, both in person and via phone.
  • Maintain a minimum 75% 90-day retention rate for placed individuals.
  • Achieve at least a 75% placement rate for individuals exiting services.
  • Average at least 3 placements per month.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
