Primary Purpose of Position

Are you seeking a dynamic environment where you can grow and make an impact? The Human Resources Office/North Carolina Zoo is looking for a dedicated Employment Specialist. Responsibilities include recruitment, salary administration, onboarding, and other HR functions such as time administration, benefits, workers’ compensation, and personnel actions.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating personnel actions in the HR-Payroll System
  • Providing guidance to employees and managers
  • Ensuring compliance with HR laws and policies
  • Assisting with benefit programs and open enrollment
  • Managing leave of absence programs
  • Time administration and audits for compliance

Positions / Physical Requirements:

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with possible overtime
  • Fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks
  • Adaptability to changing priorities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicants must provide comprehensive work history and credentials on the application. Omissions or vague statements will not be considered for credit. Minimum Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in HR or relevant field plus 1 year of experience, or 2 years of HR experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
