Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is an ESOP-based organization dedicated to helping people with diverse skills find meaningful employment. As an Employment Specialist, you’ll guide individuals toward career goals, teach resume and interview skills, and connect them with local employers.

• Valid driver’s license and comfortable traveling within your local community.
• Monday – Friday, daytime business hours (flexibility offered for part-time)
• Comfortable using MS Office, documenting notes in an electronic system, and accessing apps on a mobile device

Responsibilities

• Help individuals develop career goals and objectives.
• Teach resume writing, job applications, cover letters, and interview prep.
• Engage with local businesses to create job opportunities.
• Coach and guide individuals at their job sites.
• Provide transportation to interviews and milestones (mileage reimbursed).

As an Employment Specialist (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist) you will help individuals find meaningful employment.

A typical day might include the following:

• Working with individuals to develop career goals and objectives
• Teaching individuals how to create a customized resume, fill out effective job applications, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews
• Engaging with local businesses to develop potential job opportunities
• Coaching and guiding individuals at their job sites
• Provide occasional transportation to interviews and other essential employment milestones, while supporting individuals towards independent community travel. (mileage reimbursement provided)
