Job Overview

The Employment Specialist guides, prepares, and empowers newly arrived refugees to achieve financial self-sufficiency through employment. Responsibilities include providing employment preparation, job readiness training, placing clients in full-time jobs, and maintaining employer relationships. The role reports to the Employment Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake, assessment, orientation, and pre-employment classes.
• Provide job counseling and case management support.
• Conduct group and individual job readiness courses.
• Develop employment plans and maintain records.
• Build relationships with employers and assist clients in accessing employment opportunities.
• Monitor job performance and address post-placement needs.
• Ensure compliance with reporting and documentation requirements.
• Maintain referral partnerships and promote team engagement.
• Support ongoing learning and uphold IRC values.

Job Requirements

• Bilingual in Ukrainian, Russian, Dari, Pashto, or Spanish preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with US job search process and supporting clients in social service programs.
• Ability to document data accurately and work effectively in a team.
• Familiarity with Sacramento job market preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online databases.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Additional Information

Supports team with English assessments, client enrollment, and volunteer oversight. Works in a hybrid environment with occasional evenings/weekends. Compensation is based on experience and location.
