An ESS must understand the different needs of individuals with disabilities. As an ESS you must have the ability to exercise flexibility and assertiveness, have a positive work ethic, problem solve, and navigate crisis situations effectively. An ESS must also be able to work without direct supervision.
An Employment Services Specialist (ESS) supports persons served with community employment by exploring career opportunities, developing job skills, and supporting individuals on the job site to find and maintain competitive, integrated community employment. An ESS must possess a high level of sensitivity to the needs of individuals with disabilities to help individuals be interdependent members and active participants within the community.
