A highly respected, women-led law firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to support its employment law and workplace investigations practice. This position offers a remote work structure, low billable hour requirements (1,100 annually), and an outstanding work-life balance. The role involves advising employers on California employment law, conducting impartial investigations (including Title IX matters), and delivering workplace trainings. Duties:
Provide legal advice and counsel to employers on California employment law and compliance
Conduct objective workplace investigations, including interviews, document review, and report writing
Lead and facilitate workplace trainings on harassment prevention, DEI, employee relations, and compliance topics
Draft, review, and revise employment-related documents, including policies, handbooks, agreements, and settlement terms
Conduct legal research and monitor developments in state and federal employment law
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high-quality service and efficient workflow
Participate in firm initiatives including knowledge-sharing and blog content creation
Maintain accurate case files and documentation in line with internal protocols
Requirements:
3–6 years of experience practicing California employment law
Prior experience in employer-side advice and counsel and workplace investigations
Strong organizational and case management skills
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
High emotional intelligence and ability to connect with individuals of diverse backgrounds
Spanish language fluency is a significant plus
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the State of California
Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (or willingness to obtain within first year)
Skills:
Excellent legal research, analysis, and report writing
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong facilitation and presentation abilities for workplace training
Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and neutrality
Comfortable using technology to streamline remote legal practice
1,100 annual billable hour target
