Job summary

Gusto is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Partner to act as a trusted advisor to frontline managers, focusing on high-stakes employee matters with sound judgment and care. The role sits at the intersection of people advocacy and organizational risk, partnering with Legal and People Partners to resolve sensitive issues and drive performance enablement across the People Team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–4 years in Employee Relations or HR Business Partner role.
• Experience handling complex, sensitive ER matters with discretion and sound judgment.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Legal teams on escalated employee issues.
• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and industry trends.
• Excellent coaching, mentoring, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance multiple stakeholder interests with fairness and equity.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of addressing employee concerns, workplace conflict resolution, and investigations.
• Coach and support managers in performance expectations, feedback, and development plans.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR regulations and ensure policy adherence.
• Partner with Legal and People Partners to assess risk and determine actions on escalated cases.
• Navigate high-stakes employee situations with sound judgment and balancing risk.
• Maintain thorough documentation across ER cases and surface systemic risks.
