Job summary

Homeland-Stores is seeking an Assistant Produce Department Manager to lead daily operations in our produce area, ensuring quality, display, and stock integrity. You will train and supervise staff, manage displays, and coordinate with vendors to keep shelves full and appealing.

The role emphasizes customer service, safety, accurate pricing, and efficient backroom operations, with a focus on teamwork and meeting store goals. Prior produce experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic math and reading/writing English required for orders and labeling.
• Strong customer service skills and clear communication with staff and customers.
• Experience supervising department staff is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and respond to questions and complaints courteously.
• Assist in hiring, training, discipline and evaluation of produce staff.
• Supervise displays, rotate stock, and ensure seasonal presentation standards.
• Order produce and supplies, check quality, and prevent out-of-stocks.
• Maintain backroom readiness, weigh and code-dating, and price changes.
• Oversee safety, equipment use, and daily department cleaning.
