Job summary

Harkins Builders in Trenton, NJ is seeking a Superintendent 1 to lead multifamily, government, and commercial projects. You will oversee production, safety, quality, and on-time completion through subcontractors and internal teams.

The role requires coordinating schedules, reviewing invoices, and guiding project engineers and field staff. Strong leadership, planning, and communication are essential in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressive construction experience.
• Ability to lead, coach, and train team members.
• Knowledge of estimating, scheduling, budget/cost control, negotiation, and reporting.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret plans and contract documents.
• Ability to resolve issues with subcontractors professionally.
• Familiarity with AIA contract concepts and GMP contracts.

Responsibilities

• Manage production, quality, safety, and timely project completion through subcontractors and vendors.
• Review subcontractor requisitions and invoices as designated by Lead superintendent.
• Supervise and develop project engineers, assistant Lead superintendents, trainees, and direct labor.
• Coordinate shop drawings, samples and specifications under Lead superintendent.
• Ensure safety program is enforced on site with adequate supervision.
• Prepare and maintain project schedules with monthly updates.
• Attend weekly progress meetings and distribute minutes.
• Assist with preconstruction and quality control plan implementation.
