Job summary

S&M, Inc. seeks an Office Principal to lead the Cincinnati, Ohio office, driving operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth within a multidisciplinary team.

You will manage geotechnical, construction materials testing, and environmental projects, oversee client satisfaction, budgets, staffing, and development, and work with regional and corporate leadership to align local goals with company strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, construction, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of engineering/construction/consulting experience, including 5 years in leading teams and office operations.
• Professional license or registration in the AEC industry (if applicable) is a plus.
• Strong business and financial acumen, with budgeting and forecasting experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a client-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily office operations, staffing, scheduling, project oversight, and facilities management.
• Drive financial performance by managing project profitability, budgets, revenue forecasting, and accurate reporting.
• Promote a culture of safety and technical excellence, ensuring compliance and high-quality client service.
• Collaborate with regional and corporate leadership to align local strategies with broader goals.
• Lead talent management efforts, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, mentoring, and development.
