Job summary

Mt. Baker Ski Area, Inc. is seeking an Employee Lodge Attendant to support the daily operation and living environment of the Employee Lodge on the mountain.

The role involves monitoring lodge operations, assisting residents, routine cleaning and maintenance, inventory aids, and responding to emergencies as trained. Successful candidates are dependable, able to work independently in a remote mountain setting, and comfortable with on-call overnight shifts in provided dorm-style housing.

Qualifications

  • 21 years or older
  • CPR & AED certification required or obtainable upon employment (WA)
  • Washington State Food Handler’s certification required or obtainable upon employment
  • Current Driver’s License required or obtainable upon employment
  • Ability to pass background screening
  • Previous kitchen experience preferred
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • On-site dorm living is required for this position
  • Physical requirements due to mountain environment: lifting, bending, standing, shifting tasks

Responsibilities

  • Observe the Employee Lodge and enforce housing policies.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff for meals and needs.
  • Complete routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with resident care and dorm operations during shifts.
  • Serve as primary contact for lodge residents and on-mountain activities.
  • Respond to emergencies during and outside operation hours.
  • Support housing team and mountain staff with daily operations.
  • Help maintain safety practices and service standards.
  • Participate in training and background checks as required.

Position Summary

This job description is intended to convey information important to the scope of this position and it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities or working conditions associated with the position.

The Employee Lodge Attendant helps support the daily operation, organization, and overall living environment of the Employee Lodge while helping maintain a safe, respectful, and community-oriented atmosphere for employees living on the mountain. This position works independently and alongside other mountain staff to help monitor lodge operations, support residents, complete routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, assist with inventory and deliveries, and respond to operational or emergency situations as trained.

Successful employees in this role are dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a remote mountain environment both during and outside of normal operating hours. This position serves as a primary point of contact for lodge residents and helps support communication, housing expectations, safety practices, and overall lodge operations while fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace and living environment.

NOTE: This position requires one to remain on site overnight during scheduled “on-call” shifts in provided on-mountain dorm style housing. Candidates must have the drive and ability to motivate through a variety of challenges: early mornings, split shifts, deep snow, sick coverage, etc.

General Responsibilities:
  • Observe the Employee Lodge facility and residents and enforce housing policies as trained
  • Communicate with cooks within the kitchen as trained
  • Complete routine cleaning and maintenance tasks as trained
  • Aid in cat care (feeding and litter cleaning)
  • Perform work duties as trained without direct supervision
  • Monitor inventory and assist on delivery days
  • Serve as primary contact for E-Lodgers and for other on-mountain activities taking place during and outside normal operation hours
  • Assist in response to emergencies during and outside of normal operation hours as trained
  • Communicate with housing team and other mountain staff when neededHelp facilitate and participate in a positive and inclusive workplace
  • Have a working knowledge of Mt. Baker Ski Area mountain policies and procedures, ski area facilities and services, and safe food handling practices and management

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and resolving minor resident , employee, or operational concerns
  • Support supervisors and managers with daily operational needs and changing business demands
  • Step into different operational roles as needed to support the team and department
  • Encourage strong communication, collaboration, accountability, and guest service within the team
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture by following safe work practices and helping residents follow company safety expectations
  • Help identify areas where additional operational or employee support may be needed
Wage & Hour Information:
  • Starting rate begins at $19-21/hour with increases for experience, merit, tenure and future WA State minimum wage adjustments possible.
  • This is a seasonal, variable hour position. Hours per week may vary between 5-40+ hours/week. Expected end date for position is April 18, 2027, unless otherwise approved by management.

On-Mountain Dorm Living (Required for this Position)
  • You must remain on site the night before and between each shift
  • Dormitory-style housing accommodations are provided at no additional cost. Vanlife is not an option. See Housing Agreements for more information regarding rules and policies.
Physical Requirements

Working in the mountain environment is physically demanding. You need to be in good health and in good physical condition and have the ability to perform the following:

  • Bending, twisting, lifting and moving items throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds (or more depending on task)
  • Standing and or sitting for long periods
  • Climbing and descending stairs
  • Shoveling and moving snow
  • Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
  • Perform repetitive tasks as necessary
Position Training Requirements:
  • Annual training provided by Mt. Baker Ski Area must be completed as a condition of position employment.

  • Department Trainings as assigned
  • In Person Attendance to Leadership Training prior to season start.
