Job summary

Thompson Hospitality is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our Employee Engagement team in Reston, VA. You will develop internal communications, publish the company newsletter, coordinate recognition programs, and ensure associates stay informed across divisions.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in internal communications, strong writing/editing skills, project management, Canva design experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with UKG HR systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, human resources, or corporate communications.
• Excellent written, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities with attention to detail.
• Experience creating newsletters and employee communications using Microsoft Office and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and distribute engaging internal communications that keep associates informed and connected.
• Create and publish the company's corporate newsletter featuring updates, stories, achievements, and events.
• Manage recognition programs and prepare company-wide announcements.
• Coordinate welcome communications and promotion announcements for new hires and career growth.
• Administer service awards and update timely news on company platforms.
• Partner with HR, Talent Acquisition, Marketing, and Operations to promote initiatives and engagement programs.
• Ensure all communications reflect Thompson Hospitality's culture, mission, and brand standards.
• Track communication effectiveness and suggest improvements to boost engagement.
