Job Description
Employee Benefits Representative
Purpose:
The Employee Benefits Representative assists staff with any and all benefits offered by El Dorado School District, and processes payroll for our food service, maintenance and bus shop employees.
Contract Length: 240 days
Status: Non-exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Salary: Salary Schedule District Secretaries, Administrative Assistants, Bookkeepers, and Technology - 7 hour day - Column E; $130.19 - $150.19 daily ($31,245,60 to $36,045.60 annually)
Specific Duties:
- Meet with all new employees and discuss insurance plans, Arkansas Teacher Retirement, and assist them with completing required paperwork to ensure accuracy
- Advise all employees of changes to benefits that are available to them
- Meet a 60-day deadline set for every new hire and separating employee and a 60-day deadline for any changes to insurance plans for current employees
- Contact Arkansas Teacher Retirement regarding every new employee to verify status
- Maintain a list of separating employees annually for providers
- Calculate rates and changes to health, dental, and vision plans, and enter all insurance deductions into the employee’s payroll record
- Key all health insurance forms into database (enrollments, changes, terminations, and declinations)
- Prepare and process payroll for cafeteria, maintenance and transportation shop employees
- Maintain files for all employee benefits
- Track annual and monthly enrollment dates for all policies
- Submit Workers Compensation claims and follow up on all related paperwork
- Send FMLA forms to employees and track FMLA used throughout the district
- Prepare, create and distribute forms 1095-C and electronically submit to IRS as required by the Affordable Care Act
- Work with insurance companies to set-up annual meetings for insurance reps and Teacher Retirement reps
- Reconcile monthly insurance billings and remit payments
- Communicate with and send annuity payments to third party administrators
- Process Payable checks for all pay runs and process Accounts Payable checks for Purchase Order payments and emergency checks
- Assist employees and supervisors with Frontline Absence Management and Time & Attendance modules
- Assist other employees with responsibilities in the business office as needed
- Other duties as required by staff, vendors, or taxpayers
- Assist Human Resources with preparation of contracts

Must have good expressive and receptive English language skills, to be able to communicate with and be understood by students, co-workers and parents, receive their responses and respond to them appropriately.
Sensory:
Must be able to visually or otherwise access written and printed content, and respond verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to hear and be understood over the telephone. Must have the ability to understand and respond to the verbal expressions of others, often in a noisy environment with multiple speakers and background noise, or outside.
Movement:
Ability to move around inside on hard surface and industrial carpeted surfaces, and to travel at a brisk, walking pace relatively long inside distances, without needing to stop or rest.
Attendance:
Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
Cognitive:
Must be able to conform behavior to that which is socially accepted as being appropriate to an adult and positive role model who is working both with young and impressionable children and interfacing with the public. Must have the ability to receive complex oral and written instructions and execute them appropriately. Must be able to operate with a high degree of accuracy any required technology. Must be able to master complex rules and apply the same in a possibly chaotic environment.
