Responsibilities
- Supervises customer service associates and designated hitters. Manages the front end of the store and makes recommendations on pharmacy and retail store operations.
- Supports Store Manager in overall store operations, works alternate schedules, and assumes responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Leads and manages store team members including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline.
- Ensures proper merchandising, asset protection, and enhances sales and profitability.
Customer Experience
- Engages customers, resolves complaints, and models customer service best practices.
- Monitors and improves customer service metrics through coaching and training.
Operations
- Supervises store operations, schedules, and cash management.
- Collaborates with external partners and supports community outreach.
- Manages inventory, store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with policies and laws.
Business Performance Management
- Analyzes financial and performance data to create improvement plans.
- Supports pharmacy operations and drives store growth initiatives.
People & Performance Management
- Leads team development, performance reviews, and talent acquisition.
- Establishes a culture of accountability and manages disciplinary actions.
Training & Personal Development
- Completes required training programs and maintains relevant certifications.
- Engages in self-development and maintains an Individual Development Plan.
Communications
- Maintains open communication with team members and supports strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
- Completion of Store Manager training (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials within 12 weeks.
- Fluent in English (except in Puerto Rico), flexible schedule, and willingness to relocate if needed.
- Internal candidates: management experience; external candidates: retail or food industry experience.
