POSITION SUMMARY

The Emerging Scholars Program Assistant will support the Office of Academic Success and Student Development with program administration, event planning, student engagement, marketing, and social media initiatives. Working under the supervision of the Director of Academic Success and Student Development, the assistant will gain valuable experience in professional communication, event coordination, digital content creation, and student support. This position is ideal for a motivated student who is organized, dependable, creative, and interested in developing professional and leadership skills. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to support program events and activities.

KEY DUTIES
  • Take attendance at designated mandatory Emerging Scholars Program meetings, events, and activities.
  • Assist with planning, preparing, and executing Emerging Scholars Program events and activities.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Office Assistant to develop engaging content for the Emerging Scholars Program's social media platforms.
  • Assist with maintaining social media accounts, including creating and scheduling posts and providing program updates.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Office of Student Success, including campus errands and preparation for events.
  • Assist with special projects and other program-related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS
  • Federal Work-Study position
  • Some evening and weekend availability is required to support program events and activities.
  • Mandatory training sessions are required and will be scheduled at the beginning of the position and/or throughout the academic year as needed.
  • Mandatory staff meetings are required to support communication, coordination, and program operations.
  • Students are expected to arrive on time and actively participate in all required training sessions and staff meetings.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Hours will be assigned based on office needs, student availability, and Federal Work Study award limits.
  • Students may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester; hours may not exceed the Federal Work Study award allocation.
  • Shifts are available during regular office hours, generally Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Scheduling is coordinated with the supervisor.
  • Schedule changes must be communicated at least 48 hours in advance except in cases of emergency.
  • This position does not guarantee hours beyond the Federal Work Study award amount. Students must monitor their remaining balance throughout the award period.
COMPENSATION
  • Hourly Rate: This position is paid at an hourly rate as established by the institution's student employment wage scale. Specific rate will be confirmed upon hire.
  • Award Usage: Federal Work Study earnings are not automatically applied to tuition or fees; students receive a paycheck for hours worked.
  • Timekeeping: Students are responsible for reporting hours accurately and in compliance with institutional and federal guidelines. Misreporting hours is subject to disciplinary action.
