Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer (New Grad) in Kansas City, MO. You will support project teams from concept through design, adapting civil plans to budgets and client needs. The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (ABET preferred), strong communication, and basic CAD skills.

Internship experience is a plus. This full-time position offers exposure to power, process, healthcare, and industrial projects, with travel up to 10% and a pathway toward professional licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Internship/related consulting experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for various facilities.
• Assist in designing civil components per project manager requirements.
• Apply knowledge of civil engineering concepts and procedures in the design process.
• Assist with field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
