Job summary

Just Construction Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join a well-established commercial General Contractor in New York. The APM will support the Project Manager and project team through the construction process, helping to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The role offers opportunities to advance to a Project Manager position, with exposure to preconstruction through closeout activities and a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with a General Contractor.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, pay applications, and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with the overall management and administration of commercial construction projects.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, owners, and internal project teams.
• Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
• Assist with project schedules and monitor progress against key milestones.
• Support project budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting.
• Review subcontractor proposals, invoices, and pay applications.
• Assist with subcontractor procurement and contract administration.
• Attend and participate in project meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
• Coordinate with the Superintendent to ensure field activities align with project plans and schedules.
• Help identify and resolve project issues, delays, and potential cost impacts.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure information is communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
• Assist with closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, O&M manuals, and final documentation.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, professionalism, and accountability.
