Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is hiring a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team. You will work with doctors and other VEGGIES to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care across triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring and critical care nursing.

You will handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, while staying calm under pressure and supporting pet parents in stressful moments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician in the state where VEG practice is located; VTS in ECC/ anesthesia or internal medicine is a plus.
• 1+ year experience in veterinary technician role, emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR/practice management software.
• Excellent communicator, calm under pressure and able to support team.
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment; able to lift up to 25 kg and assist up to 40 kg.
• Able to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse backgrounds and personalities.

Responsibilities

• Triage and treat patients from minor to critical emergencies.
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support during crisis moments.
• Provide IVs, CRIs, transfusions, and other monitoring as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team to plan and maintain care flow.
• Perform CPR as needed and participate in high-level emergency procedures.
• Utilize diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement.
