Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line ER team. You will work closely with doctors to triage, treat, and monitor a wide range of emergencies while delivering compassionate care for pets and their families.

You will perform nursing duties, anesthesia support, diagnostics, and critical care tasks, extending your skill set in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in veterinary tech preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of VEG is required; VTS in ECC/Internal Medicine/Anesthesia is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary technician role; Emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and EMR practice management software knowledge.
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ready to support those around you.
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment.
• Able to stand long hours, kneel, lift up to 25 kg unassisted (40 kg with assistance).
• Must be willing to work in noisy environments with strong odors.
• Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage and treat emergency cases alongside doctors and the team.
• Provide nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Administer medications and monitor patient status, including IVs and transfusions.
• Communicate effectively with the team to shape care plans.
• Perform CPR when needed and participate in RECOVER training.
• Work with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubing placement.
• Assist in anesthesia and monitoring during procedures.
